No 19c BUS REINSTATEMENT

Following the success of the campaign initiated by ACER and our neighbouring Residents Association at Maiden Erlegh (MERA), The 19c bus was reinstated as you know.

This bus service is subsidised by Wokingham Borough Council, and, although it comes within a fixed term contract with Reading Buses, there is a clause which allows Reading Buses to amend or suspend services for operational reasons, as happened to the original 19c service. Concern over essential bus provision therefore remains.

There is now a Bus Services Working Party at Earley Town Council and submissions have been made  to the Local Transport Plan which is currently under review.  This has included  inputs concerning buses.  ACER has worked with MERA and a paper has been produced  with outline ideas to make the Mini-Orange services  more commercially viable and therefore less prone to cuts.
