Impact of Planning

Planning decisions  give rise to permanent changes in the appearance of a neighbourhood and affect the environment for those who live in the area.

Planning decisions are therefore a major area of concern for the local residents association. It is for this reason that ACER has set up a Planning Sub- Committee to look at all planning decisions affecting Whitegates.

The main reference for the Planning Sub Committee are the planning guidelines for Wokingham Borough Council  as set out in the ‘Borough Design Guide’ which recognises all the different characteristics in each parish. The Design Guide States:  ‘The key priority….to maintain the quality of environment for local residents… development is required to be compatible with local character’.
