Whitegates is notable for the number of grass verges in many of the roads, which are an inherent and attractive part of the character of the area.
Damage to grass verges is normally by building contractors and by repeated use for parking, particularly in wet weather.
Highways department of WBC are responsible for the grass verges. Damaged verges have been included in the ACER street survey and have been inspected by Highways. Damage caused by building works can be rectified if Highways are made aware of the problem.
WBC recognise the concern from damaged caused by parking on verges. A form is available from WBC to allow residents to place white rocks on the verges to prevent parking outside their own property. Grass cutting then becomes the responsibility of the resident. Residents who have used this service found it straightforward without problems.
